Mengaktifkan Fitur Ping pada Windows 7

Untuk enable ping kita harus melakukan setup berikut.

1. Masuk ke Control Panel-->System Security-->Windows Firewall
2. Pada Windows Firewall, pilih Advanced settings
3. Windows Advanced settings terbuka, sorot pada Inbound rules, lalu klik "New Rule"
4. Langsung pilih menu "Protocol and ports", definisikan Protocol = ICMPv4, dan pada panel yang sama, klik button "Customize" dan pilih "Specific ICMP types", lalu beri tanda check pada check box "Echo Request".
5. Ikuti langkah-langkah selanjutnya ("Next") dan simpan.
6. Selesai

Seharusnya Kawan-kawan bisa melakukan ping sekarang.

Berikut penjelasan teori dari source website Microsoft :

"Ping: this is reply by the machine on the network when request is sent to this machine's IP address. Why it is necessary: suppose you have multiple machines and you want to know if there is machine on the network with given IP. That's when you use ping. This packet is classified as ICMP (Internet Control Message Protocol). Many network admins routinely use that and windows machines are their pain as these by default do not respond ping (MS must be scared since infamous "Ping of death"...)."
